Jim’s a native Angeleno. He’s lived here his whole life, except for time spent earning his degree in public policymaking at Brown and his law degree at Harvard, where he was Supreme Court editor of the Harvard Law Review. Jim spent nearly a decade practicing law, first as a civil litigator in downtown L.A., then as a prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, handling cases ranging from government fraud to prison violence.

Jim left the practice of law to pursue a passion he shared with his father for investing and the financial markets. In 1990, they created Westmount. Since then, he has helped orchestrate long-term financial plans on behalf of many, many clients, attracted a team of extraordinary, talented individuals, and been recognized by Barron’s and Worth in their annual lists of the Top 100 Advisors in the nation. Jim’s active in the community, too: he’s been a longtime board member of the California Community Foundation and has served as Board Chair and Investment Committee Chair. He is currently Board Chair Emeritus.
