AS A CERTIFIED B CORP, WE WEAR OUR VALUES ON OUR SLEEVE.

Westmount is one of the few investment advisors in Southern California to earn the distinction of becoming a Certified B Corporation — or “B Corp”. That makes us part of a global movement of ethically-driven companies transforming business into a force for positive change. By becoming a B Corp, we’re living our values, and expressing those of many of our clients.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A B CORP, AND HOW DID WE BECOME ONE?

A B Corp is a for-profit business that also aspires to improve the world. By earning B Corp certification, we assume a legal obligation to engage in business practices that positively impact our clients, team members, investors, suppliers and community, as well as the environment.

To become certified as a B Corp, we went through an intensive 12-month examination in which we demonstrated high standards of transparency, accountability, and social and environmental performance. Every three years, we’ll undergo an equally rigorous recertification regimen to meet requirements that constantly evolve.

THIS WAS AN IMPORTANT STEP FOR US

When we established Westmount in 1990, we embraced a sharply different business model from most advisory firms. Our goal was — and continues to be — to function as our clients’ fiduciary. That means acting in their best interests at all times, operating with integrity and contributing to the well-being of our clients, communities and other stakeholders. With these as our values, the decision to pursue B Corp certification made perfect sense.

BECOMING A B CORP ALIGNS US WITH OUR CLIENTS

Many Westmount clients are community leaders and sit on nonprofit boards that aim to improve the quality of life for people across Southern California. As a firm, we also work with a range of nonprofits, helping them optimize their investments and achieve their charitable objectives. By becoming a B Corp, we’re formalizing a commitment to responsible citizenship that we share with our clients.
